All canine are bizarre, proper? I’m certain it’s not simply mine. But I am certain that Fred is on the higher finish of the weirdness spectrum, which simply makes him all of the extra lovable. From his inexplicable social anxiety to his cute security donuts, evidently there’s at all times one thing just a bit bit off-kilter on the subject of this little man. And whereas Kodah and Ned might have one thing of a penchant for licking feet, Fred has an habit of his personal: he loves licking his mattress.
When he first began doing it, we assumed that there’d been some meals or drink spilled, and he was devoted to cleansing it off (at all times useful!). But as time went on, I spotted that certainly, by now, he had eliminated all traces of something tasty, and there was little or no likelihood that there had been a spill over the complete mattress. And but, virtually every single day, Fred could be seen licking this facet or that, the entrance or the again, and when he will get uninterested in the mattress, he’ll typically transfer on to the couch as a substitute.
There are lots of different reasons why canine will lick issues, whether or not or not it’s themselves, you, or issues of their setting, however not one of the standard suspects appeared to use to Fred.

Fred’s Social Anxiety
For so long as we’ve identified him, Fred has had an odd response to being the focus. On one hand, he loves taking part in and cuddles and affection, however he appears very uncomfortable being the main focus of scrutiny. If you spend various moments trying straight at him, out comes the squeaking, the cowering, the smiling and grimacing, curling himself into an ungainly ball or searching for out the consolation of a donut…or 4.
Fred is one thing of a strolling contradiction. I can’t assist however marvel if he’s dwelling in a continuing state of battle; Give me consideration! But don’t take a look at me!
One factor is for certain, and it’s that I, like all pet dad and mom, am destined to look at and marvel what’s going on in that little mind of his. I simply hope it doesn’t begin to stress me out a lot that I resort to licking the furnishings.
