
Cats Protection has welcomed the Scottish Government’s strikes to introduce an outright ban on snares as a part of the Wildlife Management and Muirburn Scotland Bill.
The UK’s largest cat charity, which has been campaigning for over a decade for a ban, says the measure to outlaw the usage of the merciless, outdated traps is a large step ahead for animal welfare.
Cats Protection’s Advocacy & Government Relations Officer for Scotland Alice Palombo mentioned: “Snares are extremely merciless and inhumane, inflicting immense struggling to any animal they seize. Many animals die gradual, painful deaths after being caught and those that do survive could endure life-changing accidents.
“We’ve heard of horrific instances of pet cats, feral cats and different species struggling unimaginable ache having been trapped in a snare. Regardless of whether or not they’re the goal species or some other animal, no animal deserves to endure the agony of dying trapped in a snare.
“The proposed ban on snares in Scotland is a large leap ahead for animal welfare and can save numerous animals from struggling. This ban recognises that humane alternate options to snares can be found, and subsequently snares don’t have any place in our society.

Snares had been banned in Wales final month underneath the Agriculture (Wales) Bill and Cats Protection will proceed to marketing campaign for the remainder of the UK to observe swimsuit.
